Indian-American Richard Rahul Verma named as US ambassador to India

In what could be a great news for India, an Indian-American Rahul Verma has been appointed as US envoy to India by Obama administration. The 46-year old Rahul Verma is the first Person of Indian Origin (PIO) to hold the post. This announcement comes ahead of scheduled visit by President Obama to India in late January. Mr.Verma will be replacing Nancy Powell who resigned earlier this year over Khobragade issue which escalated into full-blown diplomatic spat between India & US. Mr.Verma has also played an important role in passage of historic Indo-US civil nuclear pact.
